B. Com or Bachelor of Commerce is a three-year undergraduate course both in regular and distance education mode. B. Com is the second most popular undergraduate course in the Commerce branch. Under B. Com, has the two most popular courses, namely B. Com or B. Com-General and B. Com (Hons). The B. Com or B. Com-General is also referred to as B. Com-Pass by many universities.
The Bachelor of Commerce degree is designed to provide students with a wide range of managerial skills while building competence in a particular area of business. Most universities, therefore, plan the degree such that in addition to their major, students are exposed to general business principles, accounting, finance, economics, actuarial studies, business management, human resources and marketing; some programs also require business statistics and -calculus, and information systems.
In the B. Com course, candidates are taught core subjects related to commerce and finance. In the three-year duration, the candidates are given options to choose from a few elective subjects too. The program is usually spread over six semesters during which the student is taught topics like financial accounting, corporate tax, economics, company law, auditing, business management, etc.
